We recognize that implementing a platform such as Infopoint in any institution is not necessarily a trivial task, and that an implementation may be part of a wider project that may require both technical as well as creative support to generate assets such as audio narrations, photography etc. As the needs of any institution may differ we are ready to discuss the individual needs of any project, and to offer either our support, or the support of trusted partners. The cost of supporting any project will need to be evaluated individually and is not covered by the cost of the licenses for the platform.
We offer two options for implementing the Infopoint platform. You can either use a managed hosting service, where the platform, alongside all data and files, remains stored within our own servers, or you can select to purchase a one-off license that will allow you to install and run the platform, as well as store all data, on your own servers.
Yes, you will be able to donwload updates to the platform when they become available even when hosting on your own servers.
Our primary business model is to offer the platform as a managed hosting service from our own servers. We will ensure the uptime of the platform as hosted on our own infastructure as well as the resolution of any reported bugs, but any arrangements needed to offer technical support for implementations on your own hardware will need to be discussed, evaluated, and priced separately. If you decide to use the Infopoint platform alongside other hardware devices such as tablets in order to communicate information made available through Blupath to your visitors, we can offer no technical support on such third-party devices.
If you purchase a one-off licenses, you can receive a full copy of the source code of the application and will have the right to modify it for the use of your own institution only. You have no right to use any of the code developed by our company for commercial purposes or resale to other institutions. Note that we offer no technical support under any circumstances if the code is modified, nor can we provide assurances that any future updates to the platform will work.
Infopoint utilizes as its base a heavilty modified version of the OctoberCMS platform, which is in itself a PHP project built on the Laravel framework. Data is stored on a MySQL database, and the application is hosted using Docker containers.
Each license can only be used to support a single institution. If you want to use the platform with multiple institutions, you will need to purchase separate licenses. You can contact us to discuss bulk pricing discounts.
We provide a free test account that allows you to login to the backend of the platform to examine its functionality, as well as to have a look at how the Infopoint portal and generated guides work.
Yes you can use your own domain to direct to the infopoint website, regardless of whether you are hosting the platform on your own server hardware or not.
Yes, all material generated and intended to be viewed by third-parties, such as the Infopoint portal and the Infopoint guides, are hosted online and accesible via URLs that you can link to via your website.
No, we do not support beacons or any form of Low Energy Bluetooth technology, and have no plans to do so in the future.
The digital guides generated by the Infopoint platform are accessible via the web, and therefore users do need an internet connection to access them via their mobile phones. If you use tablets within your premises to communicate the guide, you may use third-party 'kiosk' applications that can cache the guide content for offline use.
The Europeana Library accepts data received by Europeana Data Aggregators, organizations that work with cultural heritage institutions to gather authentic, trustworthy and robust data and make it accessible through Europeana.
