Overview

You may possibly be working on other technology projects in your organisation aside from your implementation and deployment of the Infopoint platform. You may be creating a mobile application, a new website, or any other new and exciting technology project.

In many cases, you may want to use or display details of your items or media files in these external projects. Rather than having to duplicate the effort of data input twice in a new platform and a new project, Infopoint provides you with an API that will allow external developers to get information directly from your Infopoint database and media library. This way, you only need to input data once in Infopoint, and use this as the single central data store from which you feed all other communication channels and applications.

Generating API key pairs

In order for developers to be able to use your API, they will need to have a secret key and access key. You can create a key pair to send to them by clicking on the API button at the top navigation bar, and then clicking on the 'Create' button. A key pair will be automatically created and displayed

Accessing the API documentation

The API documentation is available by clicking the API button at the top navigation bar, then the Help button at the left hand sidebar. This documentation instructions which you can pass on to your developers about how they can use the Infopoint API.
